We have some exciting news from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture about an upcoming Riparian Health Assessment (RHA) training! This is a great opportunity to enhance your knowledge in this area, new trainees and those who hadn’t taken the training in the past are strongly encouraged to attend. Please note, we anticipate that financial compensation will be provided for this EFP related training event, with details to follow once approved by the Ministry. Prioritization might be given to those without recent RHA training; however, the invitation is open to all Advisors.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food will be offering an in person, field-based Riparian Health Assessment Training this summer and we want to hear from you!

What it is:

This training will cover all the basics of how to complete a Riparian Health Assessment as part of an Environmental Farm Plan. The training will be targeted at Planning Advisors who have not completed previous RHA training, but we encourage those that have previous experience to attend if they are able.  It is an opportunity to hone skills, see new sites and vegetation, and ask questions. More information can be found in the attached course description and will be provided prior to the course.

Norine Ambrose from Cows and Fish Alberta will be delivering the training. She has a wealth of experience and would be happy to discuss more advanced topics. Dave Zehnder will also be present as an instructor in training who has many years of experience in riparian management.

We will also include a pre-training webinar in April or May if there is interest in that which would cover the basics of what riparian areas are, why they are important, some basic ecology etc.

We are aiming to have a minimum 2-day course, with a new field site each day.  For more information, see the attached course description.
